Colour changing fun: the Zergling

Since I had some duo coloured paper left after an earlier folding session, I figured it might be fun to do another colour-changed model. The Zergling has been one subject I’ve always wanted to attempt for a while, so here’s a good opportunity to do so. There’s various places where a colour change can be put to use – front/hind claws, the side horns, the scythe claws and perhaps the teeth.

Since we’ll have to turn some paper inside out to get a colour change, this means that any flaps involved in the colour change would need to be placed at the sides of the square. This will leave a lot of empty space within the centre of the square, but fortunately, the zergling has got quite a bit of structure – nice armour plates – on its back to suck up all that space!

Packing all that into the square, we get the following pattern:

There’s quite a bit of empty space left which requires some filler molecules, but it’s no big deal. The grid is 48×48 – a bit large, but still manageable. Here’s the partial and full crease patterns:
