A quick dragon
So many crease patterns, so little time.
Here’s another attempt at moving away from the traditional stiff pose of many dragon models. It’s a fairly generic dragon design, but with somewhat less space allocated for the legs (thus making the body and wings look relatively bigger). Grid is 40×40.
Square packing
Originally I had imagined it as a rearing dragon, but at some point it morphed into a leaping one. Folding it from florist’s foil saves quite a bit of time, but has the unfortunate side effect of looking terrible in photographs.
Speaking of dragons, check out Gerwin’s fire-breathing dragon. It’s a nice example of how it is sometimes advantageous not to follow the tree figure too strictly. Rather than having a single in-line flap for the flame (which could lead to a long, narrow CP with wasted space at the sides), two flaps on either side of the jaw are used instead, allowing the design to be spread more evenly around a square.
