Double Angel
Yet another Christmas fold from last year. This was intended to be more of an abstract ornament rather than a representational figure. Like the previous Christmas fold, this one makes use of rectangles for the pleat patterns on the wings and dress. A 24×24 grid is used – rather big, but necessary to get enough pleats. A side effect of this is that it generates quite a few flaps for the head region:

Partial and full crease patterns
Now, interestingly enough, since there’s so many flaps for the head region, the “front” and “back” of the model can be detailed in slightly different ways:

Using the valley folded side of the base…

…and using the mountain folded side
No doubt it’s possible to concoct some artsy-fartsy analysis on the inherent male-and-female yin-and-yangness of the paper and whatnot, but I can’t think of anything pretentious this late in the night.
